Germanisms in Ignat Herrmann's Novel Otec Kondelík and ženich Vejvara

The theme of my bachelor´s thesis is the language analysis of Germanisms in Ignát Hermann´s work Otec Kondelík a ženich Vejvara. The theoretical part bases on expert essays and articles focused on Germanisms in Czech language, the author presents their position during historical progress of Czech language and specifies elementary terms (Germanism, loanword, internationalism). The lexical analysis of selected Germanisms succeeds the proper excerption. The aim of the bachelor´s work is to compile the subcorpus of Germanisms in Ignát Hermann´s vocabulary with respect to chosen classificatory criteria.

The Bachelor thesis is focused on one of the most significant figures of the Bulgarian linguistics, Aleksandar Teodorov-Balan (1859-1959) and his attitude towards purist tendencies in the Bulgarian language. The aim of the thesis is to describe his opinions on the purity of the language and criteria of the linguistic correctness and in particular his attempts to influence the literary usage. The thesis also deals with the influence of the Czech academic environment on Balan's linguistic work.
Masaryk elementary schools in Strakonice in the context of the school architecture of the 1st half of the 20th century.

The bachelor thesis of the Masaryk general school in Strakonice deals with the topic of school architecture and focuses on a building under the then name of Masaryk general schools in Strakonice. The construction is mainly studied from an artistic and historical point of view and is presented in the interwar period of Czechoslovakia. The main aim of the work is to provide a detailed description of the building and to fit into the context of school buildings in the first half of the 20th century in the South Bohemian region. Further, the work shows how this topic was reflected in the publications of that time and, last but not least, also mentions the urban development of Strakonice in the early 20th century.

The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts; theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on the German-Czech history, both historically and linguistically. In the next section, I agree to the loan words and explain what has happened in the epoch of purism. In the practical part I investigate German loan words in Czech, which start with the letter F. I will argue what the most often word endings are and on what subject areas do these.
Arcitecture and representation of the Czechoslovak Republic: Modern architecture on the territory of Carpathian Ruthenia

The study will follow up young Czechoslovak Republic looking for the architectonic forms of its representation on the ground of Carpathian Ruthenia beetween 1919 and 1939. The core of the work is analysis of selected buildings; the selection will not be limited to the direct representation of the state (e.g. provincial office, the court, the main post office and other buildings in Uzhgorod), but it will include demonstrations of construction activities by private companies, building societies and non-governmental institutions (e.g. company Bata). Ideology of Purism in the Contrubutions on Language Cultivation in the Journals Slovo a slovesnost and Naše řeč from 1949 to 1968

The study deals with the purism as language ideology. After critical analysis of basic concepts (language cultivating, ideology, language ideology) there are standard language ideology and purism ideology presented. The crucial part of the study consists of: 1. analysis of the evaluation of purism in the contributions on language cultivating in the journals Slovo a slovesnost and Naše řeč from 1949 to 1968, 2. analysis of purism ideology in these contributions.

Eurolect in Czech translations originating in EU Institutions

This thesis presents a definition of eurolect and a corpus-based analysis of Czech eurolect. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses mainly on the distinction between existing concepts of the specific language of translations originating in EU institutions and on the definition of its main characteristics. As the process of translation in EU institutions is unprecedented, this thesis provides its detailed description. The analysis of Czech eurolect and its main features was conducted on several sub-corpora comprising of EU translations and reference corpora comprising of Czech journalistic texts from before and after 2004.
Hana and Edvard Beneš´ Villa in Sezimovo Ústí in the context of the interwar architecture

The Bachelor thesis Beneš' villa in Sezimovo Ústí in the context of the interwar architecture focuses on the circumstances of the origin of the former president' summer house and gradual implementations which it went through in the connection with its contemporary tasks. There are not omitted architects Petr Kropáček and Otakar Fierlinger. The Thesis is also focused on the development of residential architecture from the late 19th and early 20th century until the interwar years where also belongs villa of Edvard and Hana Beneš.
